About me

Who I am

I’m Juan Maillo, a seasoned Marriage and Family Therapist with over 15 years of dedicated experience in offering compassionate counseling and psychotherapy.

Originally from Spain, I embarked on a journey to the US in 2007 in pursuit of fresh opportunities. I honed my skills as a psychotherapist at the prestigious California Institute of Integral Studies, graduating from their esteemed Integral Counseling Psychology program with a Master’s degree. Through extensive training and hands-on practice, I’ve encountered a diverse spectrum of mental health concerns, gained from my tenure at various counseling centers and clinics across the vibrant San Francisco Bay Area”.

My story

My passion for psychology traces back to my earliest memories. Even before my formal education, I found myself naturally drawn to helping others, acting as a confidant for friends and a mediator for my parents. This real-life immersion deeply enriched my understanding long before my professional journey began.

At the same, I felt misunderstood by friends and repressed by the one-up-manship game that most of my male friends as well as myself participated in.

I craved for a community that validated my spiritual side and that at the same time, made me feel valuable. This search has in many ways led me accross several countries and through much loneliness. I found that what I was looking for in others could only be found inside myself. Thanks to Internal Family Systems and several wonderful mentors I started a path of compassionate self-discovery that allowed to become a caring presence to myself as well as to my clients.

Let me help you find your inner guide and its healing powers!
